RFP (Request for Proposal)

An RFP is a document a buyer issues to solicit structured proposals from vendors against a defined set of requirements.

RFPs only work when the requirements are specific and comparable; vague RFPs produce proposals scoped so differently you can't compare them like for like. Pair the RFP with a locked scope and a gap analysis that scores how much of that scope each proposal actually covers.
